Tata Elxsi has announced a collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to advance Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) development by leveraging Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions. This partnership aims to utilise Qualcomm’s virtual system-on-chips (VSoCs) for cloud-native application development, creating innovative solutions for the next generation of passenger, commercial, and off-highway vehicles.

The collaboration, set to be demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, will feature Tata Elxsi’s AVENIR SDV suite integrated with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC. This live demonstration will highlight real-world applications, including mixed-critical workloads for infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), showcasing how virtualised models can streamline SDV development.

Tata Elxsi’s work with Qualcomm focuses on creating a virtual electronic control unit (ECU) platform, reducing reliance on physical hardware during the early stages of development. By enabling cloud-native software validation and development, this initiative aims to shorten product development lifecycles, ensuring faster market readiness for advanced mobility solutions.

Shaju S, Vice President and Head of the Transportation Business Unit at Tata Elxsi, stated “The integration of our AVENIR suite with Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions provides automakers with scalable and future-ready platforms, helping them realise the potential of next-generation mobility.”

The partnership also facilitates a cloud-based environment for developers, offering cost-effective and early access to high-performance compute capabilities. This approach enables pre- and post-production software development, allowing continuous feature updates throughout a vehicle’s lifecycle.

Laxmi Rayapudi, Vice President of Automotive Software Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, added “Tata Elxsi’s work with Snapdragon virtual SoCs provides the developer community with early hardware access, reducing time-to-market for new applications. The ability to update features continuously offers OEMs new opportunities to enhance the consumer experience and develop innovative business models.”
