
Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd has announced its plan to acquire International Automotive Components Group Sweden AB (IAC Sweden), which an estimated annual turnover of $800 million. The acquisition will bolster Tata AutoComp’s presence in Europe and deepen its ties with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in both passenger and commercial vehicle segments. The deal is currently subject to regulatory approval within the European Union.
The acquisition is part of Tata AutoComp’s strategy to expand its global footprint and enhance its product portfolio in the automotive interiors space. IAC Sweden is a known supplier of interior systems and components, and its integration into Tata AutoComp’s structure is expected to bring significant operational and technological synergies. The move will provide the Indian company access to advanced manufacturing capabilities and a well-established customer base, especially within the premium automotive market in Europe.
Arvind Goel, Vice Chairman, Tata AutoComp Systems, stated that welcoming IAC Sweden into the group aligns with the company's long-term goal of expanding its presence in global markets. He acknowledged IAC Sweden’s reputation for delivering high-quality interior solutions and expressed confidence in the joint potential to drive innovation and maintain high standards across the automotive supply chain.
Manoj Kolhatkar, Managing Director and CEO, noted that the deal would allow Tata AutoComp to enhance its technological strength while establishing a stronger foothold in Europe, a key automotive region that demands consistent quality and advanced engineering.
The acquisition reflects a growing trend among Indian automotive firms seeking to establish deeper roots in mature markets through strategic takeovers. While Tata AutoComp has built a strong position within India, this move shows its intent to compete and collaborate with global manufacturers by offering integrated and locally relevant solutions.
