Two Indian automotive brands are all set to fight it out in the EV space. Both Tata Motors and Mahindra have lined up a slew of cars that will be launched in the coming months, with the first cars set to arrive by the end of this year.
Starting with Tata, the automaker currently has a portfolio of five EVs on sale including the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Nexon EV, Punch EV, and the X-Pres T. This will soon be expanded with models such as the Curvv EV, Harrier EV, Safari EV, Sierra EV, and the Avinya. Notably, the Curvv will be the first model to mark Tata’s plans of introducing the electric version of their cars first, followed by their ICE derivatives.
On Mahindra’s battleground, the XUV400 is its sole EV on offer as of today, but this is set to change with the introduction of multiple new SUVs that were showcased back in 2022 during an event in the U.K. The product offensive will begin with the XUV700-based XUV.e8 electric SUV that will be unveiled later this year, followed by a launch in early 2025. The three-row EV will be followed by the XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07, BE.09, and the Thar.e (electric Thar).
