Takuya Tsumura will succeed Gaku Nakanishi, who will relocate from India to the region's regional headquarters in Asia and Oceania as the General Manager, Automobile Business.

Japanese carmaker Honda Motor, on Saturday, announced the appointment of Takuya Tsumura as the new President & CEO, Honda Cars India (HCI), with effect from April 1, 2022.

According to the press release from the company, Tsumura has been with the company for over 30 years and has extensive experience in the automobile sector, having worked in numerous international markets such as Thailand, Australia, China, Japan, and Turkey, as well as with the abroad division for Europe and Asia & Oceania.

Furthermore, he was in charge of South Asian countries, including India, while working at the company's head office from 1997 to 2000, the release added.

Tsumura will succeed Gaku Nakanishi, who moves from India to regional headquarters in Asia and Oceania region - Asian Honda as General Manager, Automobile Business for the region.

During his four-year tenure in India, Nakanishi served as President and CEO of HCIL, guiding the company through one of the roughest business periods for the Indian auto industry, that was hit by an unprecedented epidemic and recession, the company said.

Nakanishi was instrumental in increasing HCIL exports by establishing new destinations, and he also spearheaded various initiatives in sales and service to improve customer experience and dealer profitability, the release added.
