SUN Mobility has partnered with Swiggy to offer EVs as last-mile delivery operations. This move promotes EV usage and aids Swiggy in reducing a claimed 20,000 tonne of Co2 every year. With access to 15,000 e-bikes by Swiggy delivery executives, they can swap batteries at SUN Mobility stations for a year.
Delivering more than millions of orders each month, Swiggy delivery executives cover an average of 80- 100 kilometres per day. Quick battery-swapping stations in close proximity to hubs of delivery activity will encourage the existing fleet of delivery executives to transition to EVs. This will also enable them to save up to 40% of the vehicle running cost, positively impacting their earnings.
Anant Badjatya, CEO, SUN Mobility, mentioned that through this partnership, the company will work towards the shared vision of reducing its carbon footprint, promoting sustainable mobility, and contributing to a greener environment.
Mihir Shah, Head of Operations, Swiggy, added that working with SUN Mobility allows Swiggy to solve concerns about access to battery-swapping stations. Delivery partners can keep going without putting in extra miles or delays due to battery swapping, all while giving them savings on fuel and vehicle maintenance.
