Stellantis N.V. has revealed its cutting-edge STLA Large platform, designed to underpin a diverse range of electric vehicles (EVs) in the global D and E segments. The platform boasts 800 km/500-mile range, along with outstanding flexibility to cater to various vehicle types. Initial deployment is set for Dodge and Jeep brands in North America, followed by Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, and Maserati, with a total of eight vehicles scheduled for launch between 2024 and 2026.

The STLA Large platform is engineered for unmatched technology flexibility, allowing for a broad spectrum of vehicle diversity without compromising quality or customer satisfaction. The platform's efficient manufacturing processes can be replicated across multiple assembly plants. Stellantis plans to produce a wide range of vehicles, including cars, crossovers, and SUVs, offering customers the benefits of electric propulsion with instant torque response and zero emissions. Brand-specific product announcements are expected to commence this year.

Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, emphasised the platform's flexibility and agility, positioning it as a driving force for success in North America's shift to electrification. The STLA Large is part of Stellantis' ambitious electrification strategy outlined in the Dare Forward 2030 plan.

Key features of the STLA Large platform include the ability to adjust wheelbase, overall dimensions, and ground clearance, providing designers and engineers with unparalleled flexibility. The platform accommodates various suspension modules and powertrain cradles to meet specific performance objectives related to ride, handling, and comfort.

Constructed with advanced high-strength materials, the platform prioritizes weight optimization and rigidity to deliver best-in-class performance across diverse vehicle types. The platform's components are strategically packaged to maximise interior space and storage, with a focus on minimising energy consumption for comfort and performance components.

The STLA Large platform supports both 400-volt and 800-volt electric architectures, with three-in-one electric drive modules (EDMs) configurable for front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-drive, and all-wheel-drive layouts. The platform is designed for over-the-air software updates to enhance propulsion system performance during a vehicle's lifespan.

To address the balance between driving range and cost, the platform initially offers battery pack options ranging from 85 to 118 kilowatt hours (kWh), targeting an impressive 800 km/500 miles for sedans. The platform's adaptability allows for future integration of emerging energy storage technologies.

With an investment exceeding €50 billion over the next decade in electrification, Stellantis is committed to achieving a 100% passenger car BEV sales mix in Europe and a 50% mix in the U.S. by 2030. The STLA Large platform, along with other global BEV platforms, plays a pivotal role in the company's pursuit of sustainable and innovative electric mobility solutions.
