With the launch of 17 helmets in 145 variants, Minda Corporation has forayed into the Indian two-wheeler accessories retail market. The brand noted that it entered the market when India is emerging as the largest and fastest growing helmet market globally.
About 200 distributors and Spark Minda branded outlets across the country will be added to the company's network during the next few years, noted Ashok Minda, Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer, Minda Corporation. He said, 'India is the fastest growing major economy in the world. Our foray into the consumer business category will not only make us a part of this iconic growth story of the country but also reinforce our commitment to provide the highest standards of safety for 2W riders across the country.'
The helmets from Minda will be available across three segments - Economy (Knight series), Mid (Garrison series), and the Premium (Armored series). The company has also launched 1,500 fiber parts (plastic-moulded, painted components) for two-wheelers. This automobile ancillary is targeting to increase these to 2,400 in the next two years.
Neeraj Sharan, CEO, Aftermarket Division, Minda Corporation, added, “India is the world’s biggest helmet market with 40-45% of the sector still being served by unorganised players. The launch of this extensive product range will bring significant disruption and help us become one of the leading players in the helmet segment.”
