Aiming to give music enthusiasts a variety of options based on their unique needs, while delivering the next level of innovation to the in-vehicle audio market, Sony Electronics has introduced the Mobile ES car speaker and subwoofer lineup.
The models include XS-162ES, XS-160ES, XS-690ES, XS-680ES and XS-W104ES, have been developed with various technical updates and the Mobile ES helps customers experience their favourite music, boosting their mood and transforming their car environment.
For the speaker models XS-162ES, XS-160ES, XS-690ES and XS-680ES, Sony has introduced Mica Reinforced Cellular (MRC), which is its original speaker diaphragm material, engineered for high rigidity and good internal loss (low resonant distortion), with a lightweight design. According to the company, this third-generation compound has been further optimised with mechanical driver improvements to deliver an even more comprehensive frequency response and smoother, more natural sound characteristics. Embedding MRC in a unique matrix with aramid fibres suppresses diaphragm resonance and minimises distortion in low, mid and higher frequencies. It resulted in the delivery of powerful output at all frequencies and uncommonly clean — even at high volume.
The woofer surround features another proprietary Sony technology, with distinctive curved notches improving the vertical amplitude symmetry for dramatically reduced distortion and enhanced clarity.
The XS-W104ES subwoofer comes with MRC, with the core of the diaphragm having a foam-like material on a honeycomb-shaped fibre base, which gives flexural rigidity exceeding ten times higher than that of a regular PP matrix. Optimised for the newly developed mechanical approaches, this third-generation subwoofer diaphragm offers enhanced frequency response and smooth sound characteristics.
Daisuke Kawaguchi, Vice President of Home Entertainment & Sound, Sony Electronics, said, 'Our audio engineers have designed the Mobile ES speaker lineup to give our customers a premium listening experience, without compromise.'
