The Kylaq is Skoda’s new compact SUV for the B-segment
Skoda India’s most ambitious project in its 23-year history, the Kylaq compact SUV, will make its world debut on 6 November. The car had been announced earlier this year and will begin market sales by March 2025.
We already know that the Kylaq will make use of Skoda’s 1.0-litre TSI petrol that produces 188bhp and 178Nm. This engine can be had with a six-speed MT or a six-speed AT. The Kylaq is expected to get most of Kushaq’s feature list but also some new ones like a sunroof and a 360-degree camera.
Skoda has a lot riding on the Kylaq as it aims for a five per cent share in the Indian market by 2030. This car will open up Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets for Skoda, something it has been vying for a long time but did not have the right product to make the push. Its major rivals will include the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Toyota Taisor, and the Maruti Fronx.
