Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) is celebrating a series of achievements at its state-of-the-art vehicle and engine manufacturing facility in Chakan India. SAVWIPL has produced over 1.5 million vehicles at this plant since the first Skoda Fabia rolled out in 2009. This milestone also includes models from the Volkswagen Group such as the VW Vento, Polo, Skoda Fabia, and Rapid, along with the latest models based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, including the VW Taigun and Virtus, and the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia.
The Engine Shop at the Chakan facility is celebrating its 10th anniversary having produced over 380,000 locally-made engines. The 1.0L TSI engines rely heavily on components manufactured within India, aligning with the nation's push towards domestic sourcing and manufacturing.
In addition to domestic success, the company exports over 30% of its production to nearly 40 markets worldwide, showcasing Indian manufacturing capabilities on an international stage. SAVWIPL ranks among the top four exporters of India-made cars.
