Skoda Auto India has announced substantial updates to the safety features of its Kushaq and Slavia models, marking another step forward in its commitment to vehicle safety. Starting in MY24 (Model Year 2024), the company will standardise six airbags across all variants of both models. This enhancement is part of Škoda’s broader India 2.0 strategy, aimed at reinforcing its position in the Indian market with a strong focus on safety, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
Petr Janeba, Brand Director at Skoda Auto India, emphasised the brand’s dedication to safety, which is deeply embedded in the company's DNA. It was one of the first brands to achieve a full 5-star rating for both adults and children in the Global NCAP tests. With the latest update, every variant of the Kushaq and Slavia will feature six airbags, elevating the standard of safety provided to customers across all levels. This move aligns with Škoda’s 'Human Touch' approach and its commitment to being recognized as a family-oriented brand.
Both the Kushaq and Slavia models have been updated to include advanced features across various trims:
Kushaq: The lineup begins with the Active variant and extends to the Ambition and Style, with the Monte Carlo and Elegance Edition offering additional luxury and comfort.
Slavia:Similar to the Kushaq, it starts with the Active variant and includes the Ambition and Style, with premium options available in the Style Edition and Elegance Edition.
All variants are equipped with either the 1.0 TSI or the 1.5 TSI engines, with transmission options including a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic, or a seven-speed DSG.
Recent updates to the top-tier variants of both models include segment-first features such as electric seats for the driver and co-driver and an illuminated footwell area. The infotainment system has been upgraded across the board, featuring a 25.4 cm display with Škoda Play Apps, and now offers wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in mid-level Ambition trims as well.
Skoda Auto India's product strategy for 2024 includes the debut of an all-new compact SUV set to launch globally from India in 2025 and the limited reintroduction of the Škoda Superb to meet ongoing demand for this luxury sedan.
The Kushaq and Slavia are built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, designed specifically for India but also catering to global markets, including other right-hand drive and GCC countries. Both models have achieved full 5-star Global NCAP ratings, a testament to the platform’s robust safety features.
By standardising advanced safety features across all variants and continuously updating its model range with innovative features, Škoda Auto India is poised to strengthen its market presence and appeal to a broad spectrum of customers, ensuring its vehicles are not only made for India but ready for the world.
