Skoda is aiming to add 100 touchpoints by the end of next year. The automaker currently has 250 touchpoints across the country and is looking to expand 350 by this time next year. This will include 3S locations as well as display facilities in certain locations. The charge for this is expected to be led by the launch of the Kylaq SUV which will allow Skoda to enter the sub-10 lakh segment for the first time since the Fabia hatchback was discontinued.
Among these 100 facilities, the automaker plans to leap tier-3 and tier-4 locations that had previously been difficult to target under its Indian 2.0 programme due to the pricing of the Kushaq and Slavia. Many of Skoda’s rivals up and down the segment have been seeing spurts of growth in tier-2 and tier-3 cities due to customers in these locations now having SUV ambitions. This seems like a plum time for Skoda to bring the Kylaq into the market.
The Kylaq is Skoda’s sub-4 compact SUV that will be launched by Feb 2025. It will be the third car under their India 2.0 programme and use the automaker’s 1.0-litre TSI petrol that produces 114bhp/175Nm and can be had with either a six-speed MT or a six-speed AT. This car will be Skoda’s answer to the Maruti Brezza, Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Mahindra XUV3XO, Tata Nexon, Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Venue.
