SKF Joins Mission 0 To Spearhead Green Innovation In Automotive Sector

The mission seeks to develop cutting-edge technologies and solutions to eliminate GHG emissions across the entire lifecycle of passenger cars, from materials production to end-of-life processes.

SKF, a global leader in bearing and seal manufacturing, has announced its participation in Mission 0, an ambitious initiative aimed at revolutionising the automotive industry's approach to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

In a strategic move, SKF will collaborate with academia and industry experts in a pioneering pilot project focused on tackling GHG emissions in materials and processes. The initiative will leverage research and innovation to drive the development of new knowledge and disruptive technologies essential for achieving emission reduction goals.

Annika Ölme, SKF's Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Technology Development, said, 'In this deciding decade, we need to take the right decisive actions. At SKF, we are committed to sustainability, and we know that innovation is key to succeed. Mission 0 provides a platform for fostering new ideas, forging valuable connections, and collectively achieving results that may otherwise be unattainable.'

As part of the initiative, Mission 0 has established a collaborative hub known as the Mission 0 House in Gothenburg, Sweden. This dedicated space serves as a nexus for researchers and engineers from product companies, material suppliers, and academia to collaborate on concrete projects, exchange expertise, and drive the development of groundbreaking technologies and solutions.
