The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the apex body representing the nation's leading automobile manufacturers, today announced the election of Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility as its President for the 2024-25 term.
Chandra, who previously held the position of Vice President at SIAM, succeeds Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director & CEO of Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles.
His appointment marks a new chapter for SIAM as it navigates the evolving landscape of the Indian automobile industry, with a focus on electrification, sustainability, and innovation.
The new leadership team was elected during the Executive Committee Meeting held today. In addition to Chandra’s election as President, Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director & CEO of Ashok Leyland, was named Vice President of SIAM for the upcoming year.
Furthermore, Satyakam Arya, CEO & Managing Director of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, was elected as the Treasurer of SIAM for the 2024-25 term.
Chandra's expertise in passenger vehicles and electric mobility is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping SIAM's initiatives and driving the industry's future growth.
This leadership transition comes at a critical time for the Indian automotive sector, amid challenges and opportunities in electric mobility, emission regulations, and sustainable growth.
