Schaeffler India has unveiled an initiative aimed at empowering disadvantaged youth in the burgeoning field of electric vehicle (EV) maintenance. This initiative, a collaborative venture between Schaeffler India and Don Bosco Training Centre in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, is part of the Schaeffler Technical Enhancement Programme (STEP).

The rigorous six-month training course will include modules on EV battery maintenance, auto electricals and electronics, and computer numerical control (CNC). These modules will prepare students to qualify as EV service technicians, mechanics of automotive electrical parts and electronics, and CNC programmers.

Inaugurated by Andreas Schick, Chief Operating Officer at Schaeffler, the programme underscores the global company's commitment to making a meaningful difference in people's lives and Schaeffler India’s focus on imparting technical skills in the automotive industry.

Schaeffler India is investing in the setup and students of this residential training hub to harness the untapped potential of hundreds of underprivileged youths from across India. The training programme, designed for students aged 18-24 years, offers an extensive six-month curriculum, culminating in a certification from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Harsha Kadam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Schaeffler India, stated, “This STEP Center will enhance Schaeffler India’s dedication to enabling social inclusion and equal opportunities by empowering our future—the under-represented youth.”

Schaeffler India's initiative not only aims to bridge the skill gap in the automotive sector but also to foster social inclusion and create equal opportunities for the underprivileged youth of India.
