Schaeffler India has announced the inauguration of manufacturing hall – two at its facility in Savli, Gujarat. With the addition of over 10,000 sq m of production space, the new hall will add the manufacturing capacity for small and medium-sized products.
Schaeffler India’s Savli plant currently carries out all quality-related work, such as heat treatment of raw material, face and outer diameter grinding and honing (precision grinding) the inner and outer rings of rolling bearings.
The various products produced are small ball bearings which are used in two-wheelers, cylindrical roller bearings (CRB), tapered roller bearings (TRB), spherical roller bearings (SRB) and large-size bearings (LSB) that cater to wind, railways and heavy machinery sectors.
A press release from Schaeffler India noted that the increased capacity will enable the plant to manufacture SRB and spherical rollers while expanding its heat treatment capabilities. The enhanced production capacity will now support the growing market demand in the wind, heavy industries, and railway sectors.
The release added that by FY26, the company expects the employee strength at the Savli plant to double from the existing numbers, signifying the company’s commitment to creating sustainable employment and fostering economic growth in the region.
Dr Stefan Spindler, CEO Industrial, Schaeffler AG, noted that the company continues to invest judiciously in India. “We recognise India’s strategic importance in the manufacturing space and as a mature industrial market for us in the region. This expansion will enable Schaeffler to meet the market demands and grow with the Indian market,” he added.
Harsha Kadam, CEO and Managing Director, Schaeffler India, stated that by expanding production capabilities, the company is adding local competency towards small and medium-sized spherical products, making Schaeffler well-positioned to serve the customer needs even better.
