ICAT on Tuesday announced the appointment of Saurabh Dalela as Director w.e.f November 21, 2022. Dalela has contributed to the National Automotive Testing R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP) in setting up world-class facilities in the country and has also been the Director of ICAT from 2007 to 2009 under the aegis of the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
A press release from the testing agency noted that in his new role as Director ICAT, Dalela will be responsible for all the current automotive certification / CMVR compliance.
Imbibed by the strong philosophy of automotive sustainability, safety and security, he has a strong vision of bringing in research works and enhancing facilities for new technologies such as EV, hydrogen, ADAS, battery, and software, including strong participation in their standards formulation at National and International levels.
Dalela has been in the automotive space for the last 32 years and has led portfolios like product development, portfolio strategy, growth, engineering, innovation, testing infrastructure planning & execution, and product engineering sign off.
With a unique blend of experiences in trucks, buses, cars, tractors and CEVs, he has had exposure to diverse work cultures of Japan, Korea, the EU, the US, the UK, and the Government of India, the release added.
Dalela has worked with leading global brands like Toyota, Daewoo, General Motors, Case New Holland, and JCB. His core areas include Automotive Engineering, Powertrain, Vehicle Dynamics, Automotive Electronics, Testing & Validation and Sign-off (both on-road and off-road).
