Sandisk, a leader in storage solutions, has unveiled the industry’s first automotive-grade UFS4.1 interface device, the Sandisk iNAND AT EU752 UFS4.1 Embedded Flash Drive (EFD) at Embedded World 2025.
This innovation is designed to meet the growing demands of advanced automotive applications, particularly Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs), which are driving the need for faster performance and more frequent over-the-air software updates.
With the rise of Automotive AI systems, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Autonomous Driving (AD), and eCockpit technologies, there is a critical need for reliable, real-time in-vehicle storage. The Sandisk iNAND AT EU752 UFS4.1 EFD offers high-speed interface performance, addressing the latency and connectivity challenges that arise when accessing cloud data.
The Sandisk iNAND AT EU752 UFS4.1 is more than twice as fast as the previous UFS3.1 device and offers double the capacity, with a range of 128GB to 1TB. Powered by Sandisk’s latest BiCS8 TLC NAND technology, this device is set to revolutionize automotive applications that demand high data storage performance, capacity, endurance, and reliability. It boasts impressive performance specs, including 3,900 MB/s sequential write and 4,200 MB/s sequential read speeds for the 1TB version.
Key features include health status reporting to allow proactive system monitoring and prevent potential failures; fast boot functionality, eliminating the need for a separate NOR device and optimizing board space and costs, while ensuring critical systems like rearview cameras are operational within two seconds and full backward compatibility with UFS3.1 hosts, offering seamless integration with existing systems.
Currently, the iNAND AT EU752 UFS4.1 EFD is shipping to select customers and partners, expanding Sandisk’s automotive-grade storage solutions portfolio, which includes SD cards, e.MMC, UFS2.1, UFS3.1, and NVMe products.
As the automotive industry continues to embrace AI-driven innovations, Sandisk is at the forefront, delivering high-performance, reliable storage solutions that will power the future of intelligent, connected vehicles.
