Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) India, on Friday, commenced the Physical Round of the 15th edition BAJA SAE India after two years.
The 5-day event will incorporate the technical inspection of the physical ATVs of the participating teams, followed by dynamic events such as brakes, acceleration, draw pull, suspension & traction, manoeuvrability, and all-terrain performance.
Furthermore, the go-green event and final round of the static events: CAE, Design, and Cost will be conducted parallelly. The final day will experience a 4-hour prolonged battle amongst the teams, an endurance race followed by the valedictory function.
The round will begin at two locations, including Pithampur near Indore for mBAJA at NATRAX from April 6-10, 2022 and Bengaluru for eBAJA at Cambridge Institute of Technology from May 5-8, 2022.
According to the press release from the organisation, the participation has been limited to 15 members per team, given the pandemic.
Dr K C Vora, Chairman, BAJA SAE India Organising Committee and CEO of COEP’ Bhau Institute of Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Leadership, said that the BAJA SAE India is an out-of-classroom education under STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths) principle and it provides an opportunity to engineering students through project-based learning.
It is more of a learning event than winning, and the competitive atmosphere at BAJA always puts learning at the front and nurtures the growth of students right before they enter the competitive environment of the industry, he said
“The competition enables them to grapple with a real-life application and improve their skills related to innovation, entrepreneurship & leadership. Indeed, all of this will help BAJA SAE India contribute to building yet another generation of readymade engineers & start-ups,” Vohra added.
Prior to this, the preliminary round and the virtual round were concluded last year in September and December, respectively.
