Siddhartha Lal, MD, Royal Enfield has shared a social media post showing the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 being tested in India. The company might launch the Himalayan 450 before the end of 2022.

The small clip shared by Lal appears to be taken somewhere in the Leh-Ladakh range. Royal Enfield has been trying to position the existing Himalayan and the upcoming Himalayan 450 as motorcycles made for rough terrains and adventure.

On launch, the Himalayan 450 will feature an all-new 450 cc engine from the stables of the OEM. USD front forks and an offset monoshock will also be included. The front 21-inch wheel and the rear 17-inch wheel will feature dual-channel ABS.

It is worth noting that the company is testing not just Himalayan 450 but also Scram 450, Bullet 350, and Meteor 650 in India. While the Meteor 650 might feature the engine equipped on the Royal Enfield Twins already being sold in India and global markets, the Scram 450 will be a toned-down variant of the upcoming Himalayan 450.

The OEM recently launched its most affordable motorcycle, Hunter 350, in India and global markets. The OEM sold 186,032 motorcycles in the last quarter, an increase of 52% from 122,170 motorcycles sold over the same period in FY22. It controlled over 93% share of India's 250cc to 800cc two-wheelers market in June 2022.
