Royal Enfield is developing its first electric motorcycle and patent images for the same have surfaced. The bike is codenamed electrik01 and is likely to be launched by 2026.
Going by the images, Royal Enfield has come up with a modern-retro design for its electric motorcycle. The design cues seem to have been inspired by the Royal Enfield Classic 350. It has a similar, teardrop shaped fuel tank, round headlight and curved fenders.
Royal Enfield has also equipped the motorcycle with girder fork suspension at the front, for that authentic period-correct look. At the rear, there appears to be a monoshock, likely located under the rider’s seat.
The electric motor and the battery pack seem to be packaged as one unit and placed where you’ll conventionally find a petrol engine. There are no details about the motor’s output or the battery capacity but we could expect to see the bike easily cross 100kmph and have a battery that lasts a 100km, at least.
