Rosmerta Technologies, a leader in mobility solutions, has secured a tender worth INR 400 crore to establish 21 Automated Testing Stations (ATS) across Maharashtra over the next five years. This significant step reinforces Rosmerta’s position as a pioneer in driving road safety innovations in India. The project aligns with the Indian Government’s focus on reducing road fatalities and promoting safety through technology-driven solutions.

India's vehicular population has surged in recent years, reaching 354 million by 2022, with 28.4 million vehicles produced in 2023-24 alone. The sector contributes significantly to the country's economy, accounting for 6.8% of the GDP, with 40% coming from the manufacturing sector. However, the country continues to face the alarming challenge of road safety, with approximately 1.5 to 1.6 lakh fatalities annually. In response, the Indian government introduced Chapter XI of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), which mandates the establishment of ATS stations across the country. This policy is a key step toward ensuring the implementation of automated and standardized vehicle testing.

Rosmerta Technologies' responsibilities under this tender involve constructing and operating the ATS centers to provide efficient, reliable, and fully automated testing for public service vehicles. The company has already demonstrated success in this area, having implemented 10 pilot Inspection & Certification (I&C) centers initiated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and operating three centers in Karnataka. To date, Rosmerta has tested over half a million vehicles nationwide. The Maharashtra project will expand this initiative, with the company aiming to operationalize all 21 centers within a year under the supervision of the State Transport Department.

Mr. Kartick Nagpal, President of Rosmerta Technologies, stated, 'At Rosmerta, safety is the foundation of sustainable mobility. Winning this tender is a crucial step in realising our vision of a safer transportation network across India. Through the implementation of cutting-edge Automated Testing Stations, we are helping vehicle owners and operators meet compliance requirements while addressing the critical challenge of road safety with enhanced efficiency and accountability.'

The establishment of these ATS centers underscores the need for significant government-led financial assistance, similar to schemes like the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) to accelerate the nationwide rollout of ATS infrastructure. It also highlights the importance of standardising testing processes across states, ensuring the authenticity and reliability of results, and curbing fraudulent practices often associated with manual testing systems.

With Maharashtra taking the lead in this initiative, Rosmerta is further cementing its role in driving technology-enabled road safety across the nation. The project demonstrates the company’s continued partnership with the government and its commitment to fostering a safer, more sustainable future for India’s transportation sector.

As part of its efforts to showcase these advancements, Rosmerta will present a live demonstration of the automated testing station at the Bharat Mobility Exhibition from 17th to 22nd January 2025, offering attendees an exclusive look at the future of automated road safety initiatives.
