Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited (RNAIPL) has announced plans to rejuvenate five additional water bodies in and around Oragadam. This adds to the ten lakes and ponds the company committed to revitalising in 2023, bringing the total to 15.

The carmaker will restore water bodies in Ezhichur, Kaduvanchery, Vanchuvanchery, and Nariyampakkam villages during FY24.

Keerthi Prakash, Managing Director of RNAIPL, stated, “Water management is a core focus of our operations. By revitalising these water bodies, we aim to enhance biodiversity and support local communities. Initiatives like these can create a lasting positive impact on the ecosystem and people's lives.”

Last year, RNAIPL began restoring ten lakes and ponds in the Oragadam/Kanchipuram district. Nine have been completed and handed over to local authorities, significantly enhancing water resources and biodiversity. Work on the Oragadam lake is ongoing, with completion expected in 2024, including beautification efforts to create a community space. The company’s initiatives have increased water storage capacity by over 170 million litres in the Oragadam area.

Recently, RNAIPL received the Gold Award for Water Management at the 16th CII-SR EHS Excellence Awards, highlighting its commitment to environmental stewardship.
