Renault India has announced surpassing the nine lakh cumulative sales mark since it started its sales in 2011. The company claims to be the youngest carmaker to achieve the feat.
Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations, noted that the company has established a strong foundation in India. 'Company’s commitment to the Indian Government's 'Make in India' vision is unwavering, and Renault aims to attain 90% localisation for its upcoming products,” he said.
He added that India is strategic and among the top five markets for Groupe Renault, and it has a clear long-term strategy in mind for the country. “We have formulated a strong product-offensive plan for India, with heavy emphasis on localisation in future range of products. With a long-term commitment to the Indian market, Renault plans to bring several innovations in products and services, to meet the evolving needs and preferences of customers”, added Mamillapalle.
The company currently has over 450 sales outlets and 530 service touchpoints and offers three products in the market- Kwid, Triber and Kiger.
In February 2023, the Renault- Nissan alliance noted that in their next partnership phase, Renault Nissan Automotive India (RNAIPL) will move to a structure that will see Nissan own 51% of the entity, while 49% will stay with Renault. In comparison, Renault will hold 51% of Renault Nissan Technology Business Centre India (RNTBCI), with Nissan holding the remaining 49%.
