The integration will allow EV users to find Ather Grid fast-charging stations directly on Google Maps, with the platform now recognising LECCS as an official plug type.

Ather Grid On Google Maps mobility outlook

Ather Energy has partnered with Google to provide electric vehicle (EV) users with real-time information on the availability of two-wheeler fast charging stations via Google Maps. This collaboration is set to improve the charging experience for EV users equipped with the Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS) connector standard, enabling them to easily locate Ather Grid fast chargers and receive live status updates.

Users can set LECCS as their default connector, ensuring that relevant charging stations appear when searching for 'EV charger near me' or 'charging stations.' This feature is designed to make public charging more accessible and user-friendly, especially for those with vehicles compatible with the LECCS standard.

The LECCS standard, developed indigenously and approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards for nationwide adoption, is viewed as a critical step towards establishing a universal standard for EV charging infrastructure in India.

As of March 30th, 2024, Ather Energy has installed 1,973 fast chargers across the country. In addition to this collaboration with Google, Ather has also integrated other popular consumer technologies into its vehicles, including Google Maps navigation, Alexa skills, and WhatsApp notifications.
