Rapido has made a bold move in the electric vehicle market by launching the largest electric autorickshaw fleet in Bangalore. The ride-hailing company has deployed over 4000 EV autorickshaws operating in two shifts which have collectively completed more than 2.25 million rides and covered a total of 15.6 million kilometres.

This initiative has brought significant environmental benefits to Bangalore. Through its electric autorickshaws Rapido has achieved savings of over 1036 tons of carbon dioxide emissions contributing to a greener and more sustainable future for the city. This move aligns with the growing demand for eco-friendly transport solutions and marks a crucial shift in the city's urban mobility landscape. By reducing the carbon footprint of its operations Rapido is demonstrating that sustainability and economic growth can go hand in hand.

Pavan Guntupalli, Co-founder, Rapido, highlighted that in addition to the environmental impact the EV initiative has also created sustainable job opportunities for the city’s gig workforce. The autorickshaw drivers have collectively earned a total of INR 178 million which underscores the potential of EV adoption not just for environmental gains but for economic empowerment as well. The company aims to offer its drivers the ability to maximise their earnings while simultaneously contributing to the city's greener future.
