In a significant move to advance electric vehicle (EV) technology, PURE EV, an electric two-wheeler (2W) manufacturer, has announced a joint venture with UK-based Pragmatic Design Solutions Ltd (PDSL). The collaboration aims to develop high-performance electric scooters using state-of-the-art solid state battery technology for both the Indian and international markets.
The new JV will be based at the Coventry University Technology Park, a renowned hub for automotive innovation, including electric vehicle technology. This strategic location promises to foster groundbreaking advancements in the EV sector by leveraging the area's rich resources and technological expertise.
The proposed electric scooter will offer a range of up to 250 kilometres per charge with a top speed exceeding 100 kmph. Incorporating an AI-based powertrain platform, the vehicle will feature user-friendly troubleshooting and a fast on-board charging system, setting new standards in EV performance and convenience. Emphasising eco-friendly principles, the design integrates cutting-edge technology with sustainable practices.
This partnership merges PURE EV’s experience in battery and EV design with PDSL’s comprehensive engineering services and connections within the global automotive supply chain.
Development efforts have already commenced, with a product launch targeted for early 2025. The venture aims to position itself in the premium scooter segment, reflecting a strategic shift towards higher-end markets.
Rohit Vadera, CEO of PURE EV, said this collaboration enables the company to leverage each other's strengths and deliver superior products that exceed customer expectations globally.
Dr Steve Simplay, Director of MSME at PDSL, stated that the JV will not only expand development capabilities but also strengthen supply chain for rapid scalability and innovation.
