Porsche Taycan new model variants boast more range and shorter, more robust charging processes. Initial test drives of pre-series Taycan models between Los Angeles and San Diego showcased the electric sports car's remarkable real-world range of up to 587 kilometres, demonstrating its significantly improved long-distance potential.
Kevin Giek, Vice President for the Taycan model line, stated, 'For the particularly efficient Taycan sports saloon with the large battery, this practical, final test resulted in a total range of up to 587 kilometres. A great result. The range test in Southern California impressively demonstrated how efficient the reworked Taycan is.'
The test was conducted under everyday conditions, with twelve international media representatives driving four vehicles for three days on Interstate Highway 405 and 5 between Los Angeles and San Diego. The teams maintained the maximum speed of 120 kmph, permitted on interstates. All four test cars were equipped with the larger Performance Battery Plus.
The vehicles were charged at the Electrify America Charger in Torrance/Los Angeles, where the Taycan showcased charging power exceeding 300 kW for extended periods. The test also revealed significant improvements in charging performance, charging time, and the time it takes to initiate charging.
Porsche's commitment to enhancing the Taycan's efficiency not only extends the electric sports car's range but also positions it as a frontrunner in the electric vehicle market, showcasing the potential for electric mobility without compromising performance or convenience.
