Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated the importance of Amrit Kaal — the best time to kick off a new venture in Vedic astrology — as an opportunity for the auto industry to achieve self-sufficiency.
“Be it PLI schemes that boost manufacturing, or the encouragement for electric/hybrid vehicles, or ethanol-blended petrol, we have taken many initiatives to further empower the automobile industry,” he said in a message that was read out by Kenichi Ayukawa, President, SIAM, at its 62 annual convention in New Delhi on Thursday.
According to Modi, it was imperative for the industry to rev up innovation for greener alternatives and ensure protection and conservation of the environment while making India self-reliant.
“Mobility holds the key to the progress of humanity. It is driving every sphere of life in a way that was never imagined before. The quality and ease of mobility is a primary factor in ensuring growth,” he said in his message.
The PM acknowledged that the automobile sector has contributed to the all-round development and growth of the economy through new avenues for employment generation.
He also congratulated the auto industry on becoming the fourth largest in terms of vehicle manufacturing while lauding its achievement of record exports. “These accomplishments that came despite the pandemic have played a key role in India's economic resurgence,” he said.
The Modi-led BJP government has “adopted an enabling approach” towards creating a global manufacturing hub by encouraging the ‘Make in India’ mindset.
“I am sure that various stakeholders gathered at the convention that include industry experts, manufacturers and policy makers, will hold vibrant deliberations to develop a futuristic blueprint for the automobile sector. May the collective wisdom and experience open up new pathways of progress.” said the PM.
