With increasing participation from private players, domestic and foreign, due to favourable policy measures, the railway sector is expected to grow rapidly over the medium to long term.

The automotive interiors, seating systems & EV components & speciality vehicles manufacturer Pinnacle Industries has announced its entrance into railway seating systems.

Initially, the company will be targeting the long-distance high-speed trains, from luxury / executive class coach seats to the standard AC coach seats, with a two-seater, three-seater, and single-seater configurations. It will look at solid structure seats meeting European norms, especially fire retardancy and comfort, a communication from the company stated.

These 180-degree rotation seats will feature USB charging, a tablet/mobile holder, anti-skid park tray, among other amenities, the release added.

Arihant Mehta, Director, Pinnacle Industries, said the demand for safer, comfortable, and aesthetic seats could be the way to go for India Railways, particularly with new-age high-speed trains.

“We are bullish on designing, developing, and delivering innovative, cost-effective, safer & durable world-class products for the railway segment, and to other markets and sectors going forward. Given the potential of the railway industry in India, and globally, we foresee huge growth opportunities for Pinnacle Industries,” he added.

It must be noted that India has the fourth-largest railway system in the world, following the US, Russia, and China. With increasing participation from private players, domestic and foreign, due to favourable policy measures, the railway sector is expected to grow rapidly over the medium to long term.

The Government of India’s focus on infrastructure is a significant factor that will accelerate the growth of railways, with railways infrastructure investments projected at INR 50 lakh crore by 2030, the company said.
