IndiGo has announced the appointment of Pieter Elbers as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Elbers will join IndiGo on or before October 1st and take over from IndiGo’s current CEO, Ronojoy Dutta, who has decided to retire on September 30th.
Elbers is presently President & Chief Executive Officer of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and also a member of the Executive Committee of the Air France – KLM Group.
Reacting to his appointment, Elbers said, “What IndiGo’s employees and leadership have jointly built, since its start 16 years ago, is, by any standard, truly impressive. I am delighted to become a part of the next stage of IndiGo’s incredible journey, further fulfilling the vision of what the airline can do and will be for its customers and for India.”
Rahul Bhatia, Managing Director of IndiGo, thanked Dutta for effectively leading the airline with a steady hand for almost four years.
IndiGo’s is India’s leading airline and has a fleet of more than 275 aircraft, which it operates on over 1,600 daily flights and connecting over 75 domestic destinations and 25 international destinations.
