Piaggio Vehicles, a 100 % subsidiary of the Italian Piaggio Group, along with the Government of Delhi, handed over the first batch of 11 Piaggio Ape electric E-autos.
According to a press release from the EV maker, this was done based on the exclusive permits issued by the government of Delhi to make Delhi the EV capital of India.
The event took place at IP Depot of Delhi Transport Corporation in the presence of the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Kailash Gahlot, Transport Minister, government of Delhi, Manoj Sahai, Zonal Manager and Khushvir Sharma, Regional Manager, Piaggio India.
Saju Nair, EVP and Head Commercial Vehicle Business, Piaggio India, said that the Delhi government has announced many incentives for EV buyers like a purchase incentive of INR 30,000 per vehicle and a subsidy of 5% on interest and/or hire purchase scheme.
These initiatives have given a boost to OEMs like us, and we look forward to extending our support to other such initiatives, he added.
