Within 24 hours of start of bookings for Ola’s soon-to-be-launched scooter, the company has announced it has received a record-breaking number of reservations. Over 100,000 potential customers have booked the scooter, since reservations were opened on the evening of July 15 for a INR 499.
The response isn’t surprising considering the expectations that the Ola Scooter has generated since its announcement. It is the most pre-booked scooter in the world, Ola claimed.
Calling it an unprecedented demand from customers, Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO, Ola said it is a clear indicator of shifting consumer preferences to EVs.
The scooter will roll out of the company’s Futurefactory, the world’s largest two-wheeler factory being built on a 500-acre site in Tamil Nadu. The first phase with an annual capacity of two million units is scheduled to be operationalised soon. By the next year, Ola Electric is looking at achieving full capacity of 10 million units annually.
