Bhavesh Aggarwal-led Ola Electric is planning to launch a more economical version of Ola S1 electric scooters in India. The start-up might launch this new variant of S1 before this Diwali.
Currently, Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro electric scooters are being retailed at INR 99,999 and INR 139,999, respectively. The OEM launched the Ola S1 on August 15, in India and has also started retailing the same in Nepal.
The upcoming version of the Ola Electric scooter is rumoured to give a range of fewer than 100 kms. It might also be the first electric scooter from the stables of the OEM to feature battery swap capabilities.
However, most of the other features of the Ola S1 upcoming variant might remain the same. If launched below the INR 80,000 mark, the same will compete against a lot of existing scooters in India.
Meanwhile, Ola Electric emerged as India's top electric vehicle brand in September 2022. It registered 9,634 electric scooters during the month, against 3,440 electric scooters in August 2022. The start-up has also recently opened 20 experience centres across India.
