NXP India recently hosted an Indo-German technology roundtable bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and executives from Germany and India. The discussions centred on strengthening international collaboration in the semiconductor sector with a particular focus on electric vehicles (EVs) and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and 6G.

The roundtable discussions underscored the potential of Indo-German cooperation in various fields, especially in the technology and automotive sectors. Robert Habeck, German Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, joined by Indian and German industry leaders, signed a joint declaration that confirmed Germany as a partner country for ELECRAMA 2027, a flagship Indian electronics trade show. This move highlights Germany’s commitment to supporting India’s evolving electronics and technology industries and marks a significant step toward fostering international cooperation in sectors critical to both nations’ economic and environmental goals.

Industry leaders discussed how Germany’s expertise in automotive innovation could complement India’s growing manufacturing base and market demand for sustainable transport solutions. With India’s rapid adoption of EVs, such collaborations promise to enhance research and development, increase efficiency in EV manufacturing, and bring affordable electric mobility solutions to the Indian market. According to Lars Reger, NXP's Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, fostering international partnerships is crucial for driving progress in sectors like EVs, where technological innovation and scalable manufacturing are essential.

The event also included technology demonstrations showcasing advancements from NXP and other companies, highlighting solutions for EV motorbikes, smart manufacturing, AI applications, and 6G technology. These demonstrations illustrated the potential impact of Indo-German partnerships on EV technology and broader Industry 4.0 applications. The participation of emerging Indian and Asian startups added a dynamic layer to the discussions, showing how innovation in electric vehicles and semiconductor technology could be furthered through joint efforts.
