Noida International Airport (NIA) has selected SITA's Airport Management System (AMS) to help automate and streamline airport operations, making it the first greenfield deployment in the Indian subcontinent.
Under the terms of the agreement, SITA will deliver a customised solution that offers flexibility and transparency for all airport partners to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The partnership aims to establish a platform for collaborative decision-making vital for achieving operational efficiencies at NIA.
The agreement includes the provision and operation of systems to allocate gates and counters, boarding bridges, manage airfield traffic flows, and display flight information to passengers.
The AMS will provide NIA with reliable flight information and planning capabilities, empowering the airport to review performance, strategise operational efficiency improvements, and capture resource utilisation statistics.
Christoph Schnellmann, CEO, NIA, said SITA repeatedly demonstrated their ability to deliver solutions that cater to India's unique requirements, and their expertise and innovative technologies would help efficiently manage airport resources for a seamless passenger travel experience.
Sumesh Patel, President, Asia Pacific, SITA, said the partnership is a significant achievement for SITA, as greenfield airports exercise utmost caution in selecting their AMS partners. “With over 20 customised integrations, NIA will join the league of highly technologically efficient airports, benefiting from a single-window solution and our managed service expertise, including 24/7 onsite support.”
NIA is projected to open at the end of 2024 and will connect the greater Delhi area and Western Uttar Pradesh with other cities in India and the world. It will have one runway and one terminal and handle a capacity of 12 million passengers – with the potential for further development in additional construction phases. It will be India's first airport in its class to achieve net zero emissions.
NIA is being developed by Yamuna International Airport, which was established for developing, constructing and operating the greenfield international airport. The company is a 100% subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG.
