Nissan has ordained Kumho as the original equipment (OE) supplier for its 2021 Pathfinder SUV model.

According to the tyremaker, the new SUVs will leave the Nissan production line shod with Crugen HP71 pattern tyres in 255/60R18 size.

The new Nissan contract is the latest addition to the tyre company’s sprouting global OE portfolio that includes Audi, BMW, Jeep, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, SEAT, Skoda and Volkswagen, and the major Korean car manufacturers Hyundai and Kia.

Kumho produces over 68 million tyres every year, which is sufficient to provide every individual in the Netherlands with a set of four tyres and a spare.

The Crugen range was developed in tandem with the evolution of urban SUVs and is now globally recognised as an SUV-exclusive tyre brand in its own right. The tyre’s vital centre section and improved shoulder blocks ensure responsive handling, while full-depth sipes and wide circumferential grooves optimise water evacuation, improve wet weather traction and limit aquaplaning.

Moreover, its on-road performance makes the HP71 the perfect tyre for the new Pathfinder, the company said.

The supply agreement concerns Pathfinders destined for the North American market, the tyres for which are produced at Kumho’s central production facility at Macon, Georgia.
