Nissan Motor India Crosses One Million Export Mark

In recent years, the company has transitioned its primary export market from Europe to the Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.

Nissan Motor India has crossed a significant milestone in its journey, by crossing the one million export mark from its India operations, since it commenced exports in September 2010. 

The Japanese carmaker currently claims to export its four-wheelers to 108 countries, including Middle Eastern countries, Europe, Latin America, New Zealand, Australia, South-East Asia, SAARC countries, and Sub-Sahara and Africa from its Renault-Nissan Automotive India (RNAIPL) plant in Chennai, a press release from the company stated.

Additionally, in recent years, the company has transitioned its primary export market from Europe to the Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

On July 28, Frank Torres, President, Nissan India, members of the company’s management team alongside Sanjay Kumar, General Manager CS & BD; M Gunasekaran, General Manager, Finance & Operations; and Captain GM Balan, General Manager, Marine Services flagged off the one-millionth vehicle, a Magnite, for export from the Kamarajar port. 

Torres said the Indian entity is a key hub for exports of completely built-up cars and for parts supply. 

Biju Balendran, MD & CEO, RNAIPL, said, “This achievement reinforces our focus on expanding and strengthening our market presence across global markets and establishes the Renault-Nissan plant in India as a hub of manufacturing excellence that will win more accolades and recognition.”

Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “Exports are a strong pillar of Nissan India’s business strategy, and we will continue growing our customer base in diverse markets, segments, backed by our focus on best-in-class products, innovative technologies, robust performance, and safety.”

The company noted that the newly launched Magnite is one of the key models to be exported from India, adding that it has invested $1.5 bn and has created employment and skilling opportunities for over 40,000 workers, including direct and indirect, since operations commenced in 2010.
