Leading institution for the promotion of excellence in quality and reliability, the National Institution for Quality and Reliability (NIQR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the American Society for Quality (ASQ), South Asia, India.
This collaboration aims to harness complementary strengths of the respective organisations and work collaboratively to promote the latest tools and practises in quality and reliability among experts and industry, as well as to create certification programmes, a communication from NIQR stated.
Raj Srinivasan, CEO & Mentor, NIQR, said the Indian industry in general, and the automotive industry in particular, has been practising Total Quality Management (TQM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) for over four decades now.
Most of the supplier industry is certified to Quality System Certification like ISO 9000 as well as automotive industry-specific quality system standards, he added.
NIQR will continue its drive to promote excellence in quality and upgrade the industry through organising training programmes, conferences, seminars, lectures, competitions, newsletters, and also engaging with students in colleges and schools with an intent to catch them young.
Anindya Sarangi, Director & Head, ASQ South Asia, said that while ASQ and NIQR have been working closely for a long time, this formal agreement would pave the way for a strategic and structured plan in delivering ASQ programmes and bring in 76 years of global thought leadership to the members of NIQR and explore other complementary opportunities.
