Jeep has provided a first glimpse of its next-generation Compass SUV, with production set to begin at the Melfi plant in Italy in 2025. The new model is expected to reach Indian markets by 2026, where it will continue to compete in the fiercely contested mid-size SUV segment.
The teaser image showcases a redesigned Compass, which appears to be longer than the current model. Notable design changes include squared-off wheel arches, a floating roofline, and wrap-around headlamps and taillamps, offering a more refined and bold profile. If this longer design carries through to the final production model, it is likely that the Jeep Meridian, a three-row SUV based on the Compass, will also grow in size.
As India serves as the right-hand drive (RHD) production hub for the Compass, the country is expected to be one of the first markets to receive the new-generation model when it launches globally. The upcoming Compass will feature both petrol and diesel engine options, catering to the preferences of Indian buyers. Additionally, an upgraded list of features is anticipated to keep the Compass competitive within the segment.
The new Jeep Compass will face tough competition in the Indian market from rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Tata Harrier. It will also compete with mid-level variants of larger SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and Tata Safari.
