TVS Motor Company has launched the Apache 160 RTR at INR 117,790, and the Apache 180 RTR at INR 130,590 on Thursday.
The 160 RTR will be sold in three variants: drum with ride modes, disc with ride modes, & disc with ride modes & SmartXonnect. The 180 will only be available in disc with ride modes & SmartXonnect.
The base variant, TVS Apache 160 Drum with Ride Modes is priced INR INR 117,790, while the TVS Apache 160 Disc with Ride Modes is priced INR 121,290, and the TVS Apache 160 Disc with Ride Modes & SmartXonnect has been priced INR 121,590.
All in all, 4.8 million customers have bought Apache bikes so far, Vimal Sumbly, Head-Premium Segment, TVS Motors said at the virtual launch. He said the contribution of premium motorcycles in the 150 cc plus segment stands at around 13.5% and the new TVS Apache 160 & 180 will be positioned in the 150 cc to 200 cc segment in the country. 'The competition in the 160 cc segment is getting intense,' he said.
On offer with the latest 160 & 180 RTRs are enhanced power-to-weight ratio, new headlights, new LED tail lights, wider rear tyres with Remora compound, and X-Ring chain. TVS Motors has also introduced ride modes in the two offerings. Introductory ride modes on the new TVS Apache motorcycles include sport, urban, and rain riding.
The new Apache 160 can produce a maximum power of 16.04 PS at 8750 RPM, and maximum torque of 13.85 Nm at 7000 RPM. TVS claims it has reduced two kg weight in the new Apache 160 when compared to the earlier version. Similarly, the new Apache 180 is a kg lighter and can produce 17.02 PS at 8500 RPM maximum power, and 15.50 Nm at 7000 RPM maximum torque.
The company has started bookings for both motorcycles. TVS will retail the Apache 160 in white, black, red, blue, and Teal Gray while the Apache 180 will be sold in white and black options.
Total two-wheeler sales for TVS registered a growth of 15% from selling 274,313 units in August 2021 to 315,539 units in August 2022. Its domestic two-wheeler sales grew 33% from 179,999 units in August 2021 to 239,325 units.
