Motul India and Zypp Electric have joined forces to launch a nationwide training programme for mechanics specialising in the repair and maintenance of electric two-wheelers (e-2Ws). The initiative commenced with a two-day pilot training session in Gurugram and aims to certify over 10,000 mechanics across India as EV repair specialists addressing the growing need for skilled professionals in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
Motul India contributes its expertise in vehicle maintenance while Zypp Electric brings insights into the operational challenges of e-2Ws. This collaboration seeks to empower mechanics with the skills to repair both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric two- and three-wheelers enabling them to adapt to India’s rapidly changing automotive landscape.
The initial training session combined classroom instruction and hands-on practice, covering key aspects of EV electrical systems, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. Participants demonstrated significant progress, with technical capabilities improving by up to 50% following the programme. The positive feedback from mechanics and dealer partners underscored the programme's relevance and impact. This initiative is expected to benefit not only mechanics but also consumers, fostering a more inclusive and skilled automotive workforce.
