Motherson has announced the inauguration of its manufacturing facility in UAE. Located in Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), the facility was inaugurated by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
Specialising in manufacturing wiring harnesses for commercial vehicles and other special purpose vehicles, the facility also exports to its customers in Europe. Built with an initial investment of about €10 million, the 11,000 sqm facility will employ around 500 people.
Al Qasimi said, “In Ras Al Khaimah, we have an integrated strategy to diversify the economy and achieve balanced growth across all sectors in a manner that ensures the sustainable development of our Emirate and adherence to our national objectives.”
This strategy lends great flexibility to the Emirate’s economic ecosystem, allowing to keep pace with rapid changes across all sectors and to enhance the competitiveness to be among the most sought-after business destinations in the region and the world, he added.
Vivek Chaand Sehgal, Chairman, Motherson, stated that Ras Al Khaimah continues to serve as a strategic base for operations, bringing the company closer to the European wiring harness customers.
Ramy Jallad, RAKEZ Group CEO, said that the state-of-the-art facility represents Motherson’s commitment to innovation and quality, showcasing Ras Al Khaimah and the group as key strategic hubs for their global operations.
