Montra Electric has kicked off the Montra Electric Super League (MSL), a first-of-its-kind event designed specifically for auto drivers across India. Co-powered by Chola Finance, the MSL is an initiative that brings the competitive spirit of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the streets, with a focus on demonstrating the capabilities of electric vehicles (EVs) within the three-wheeler community.
The MSL features 10 teams, each consisting of 17 skilled auto drivers, known as ‘Super Riders’. This unique league is not just about competition but also about changing perceptions—particularly the common concern of range anxiety associated with EVs. Throughout the tournament, participants are encouraged to push the boundaries of their electric vehicles, driving impressive distances with the assistance of top-up charging stations provided throughout the day.
The competition involves 170 Super Riders from across the country, including women auto drivers, who are tasked with covering the most kilometres. The team that achieves the highest mileage will be declared the winner, showcasing that electric autos can easily surpass 300 kilometres in a single day, thereby dispelling the myth of limited range.
The league’s scoring system is structured to motivate and reward the participants. Each kilometre driven by the top 14 riders in each team earns one run, with additional runs awarded for referrals that lead to deliveries, live bookings, and quality customer testimonials. The teams advance through a series of matches, culminating in quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a grand finale.
As part of the initiative, Chola Finance has made a significant commitment to the participating drivers, pledging to provide free education for life to the children of up to 68 Super Riders who make it to the final stages of the tournament.
The Montra Electric Super League began on July 5th and is set to conclude in the first week of September with a grand finale.
