
Montra Electric, through its e-SCV division, TIVOLT Electric Vehicles Private Limited, has inaugurated its dedicated manufacturing plant for electric small commercial vehicles (e-SCV) in Ponneri, Chennai.
The facility, which marks a significant milestone for the company, was inaugurated by Arun Murugappan, Executive Chairman of Tube Investments of India Limited (TII), alongside Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of TI Clean Mobility Private Limited (Montra Electric), and Saju Nair, CEO of Tivolt Electric Vehicles Private Limited.
Located just 35 kilometers from Chennai on the Kolkata highway, the plant is poised to meet the rising demand for sustainable transportation solutions in India. The facility promotes a collaborative ‘one team’ culture, fostering innovation and operational excellence.
Murugappan said, 'This plant signifies a key milestone in our journey towards innovative, sustainable clean mobility solutions. Montra Electric has been at the forefront of India’s EV transformation, and we are committed to contributing to India’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.'
Gupta highlighted the significance of the new plant, stating, 'The launch of this plant not only enhances our production capabilities but also reinforces our commitment to providing industry-leading EV solutions.'
A key feature of the new facility will be the production of the EVIATOR, Montra Electric's latest e-SCV, which claims to offer a certified range of 245 km and a real-life range of 170 km, with an power output of 80 kW and 300 Nm torque. Additionally, the vehicle comes with an extended warranty of up to 7 years or 2.5 lakh kilometers.
