MNRE Recognises TKM For Submission Of Energy Compact Goals

TKM has achieved 100% renewable energy in grid electricity from June 2021, for its manufacturing plant at Bidadi and onsite supplier companies, resulting in a carbon offset of over 2.7 lakh tonne.

The Japanese carmaker, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), has announced that it was felicitated with the Certificate of Recognition by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) in collaboration with CEEW- Council on Energy, Environment and Water. 

The felicitation was for submitting Energy Compact (EC) goals and continued commitment to enhance its energy efficiency initiatives.

The certificate was presented to Raju B Ketkale, Executive Vice President, Manufacturing and Vikram Gulati, Country Head & Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Governance, TKM, by the Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy R K Singh.

Ketkale said, “We are extremely honoured and pleased that our endeavours in reducing energy consumption towards CO2 reduction are well acknowledged.'

The company claims to have invested enormous efforts to significantly improve energy efficiency by reducing and monitoring daily energy consumption in all its operational processes.

Through various energy initiatives, it has achieved 100% renewable energy in grid electricity from June 2021, which includes the TKM manufacturing plant at Bidadi and onsite supplier companies, resulting in a carbon offset of over 2.7 lakh tonne, it added.

According to a press release from the company, its fundamental goal is to achieve net-zero carbon (CO2) emission throughout the entire lifecycle that goes well beyond vehicles, addressing the entire value-chain, including manufacturing activities.

As a part of its Toyota Environment Challenges 2050, it has 8.2 MW solar capacity installed inside the premises and 18 MW offsite installation, exclusive for the company.
