The BMW owned MINI India today launched its first EV, the MINI 3-Door Cooper SE, at INR 47.2 lakh, ex-showroom, India. Sold as a CBU unit, the company said the car has been booked out till March 2022, with deliveries slated to start from the same month.
The next round for booking will also commence simultaneously through its online portal, given the company’s ‘Digital First’ strategy.
Based on the three-door hatch, the EV features a single-speed transmission and can produce 184 hp and a maximum torque of 270 Nm, with a claimed 0-100 km sprint in 7.3 seconds.
It gets powered by a 32.6 kWh floor-mounted battery, giving it a claimed driving range of up to 270 km. Battery warranty is valid till eight years or 100,000 kms, the company added. The customers will get an 11kW Smart wallbox charger with a fixed charging cable and one-time installation.
The company said that on a 50kW DC Charger, the EV can get charged up to 80% in 36 minutes, while it will take 15 minutes to get enough charge to cover 100kms. Furthermore, it has added fast-charging stations all across its 32 dealerships.
Offered in the shade of White Silver, Midnight Black, Moonwalk Grey, and British Racing Green, the EV has energetic yellow highlights on the outside, including mirror caps, the S logo throughout the vehicle, and the new Electric MINI emblem, to distinguish itself from the ICE counterpart. Further, the rear bumper, as well as the front grille, have been revised. It also gets 17-inch alloy wheels outlined in energetic yellow.
The inside too features the yellow accents with the start/stop toggle, gear lever and door seals. It gets sports seats with Cloth/ Leatherette combination upholstery in Black Pearl/ Carbon Black and Nappa leather steering wheel. The car also features a 5.5-inch MID instrument cluster and an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Besides, it has a navigation system, wireless charging, enhanced Bluetooth mobile preparation, Apple CarPlay and Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi speaker system.
The car’s safety features include front passenger airbags, Brake Assist, 3-Point Seat Belts, Dynamic Stability Control, Crash Sensor, Anti-lock Braking System, Cornering Brake Control, Run-flat tyres and Rear-View Camera.

Launched in 2012, the brand has a customer base of about 5,000 customers. With the launch of the new EV, it has set its foot in becoming an all-electric brand till 2030, Pawah added.
