Michelin Launches AI Startup Challenge mobility outlook

Michelin has joined forces with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Startup India to introduce the sector’s first AI Startup Challenge. The AI Startup Challenge, set to run from July to September 2024, invites AI startups to participate in a rigorous three-month program. The selected startups will have the opportunity to collaborate with Michelin, receive mentorship, and potentially secure paid pilot projects worth up to INR 5 lakh per project. The challenge also offers prospects for long-term global contracts and incubation support from Michelin’s leadership.

The AI Startup Challenge will be conducted in multiple stages, starting with outreach and applications in July 2024. The program will include shortlisting and mentorship, culminating in a grand finale where the top startups will present their solutions to a panel of judges from Startup India and Michelin India in September 2024.

DPIIT has been proactive in mobilising startups in the manufacturing space, providing early-stage support essential for their growth. The Department aims to bridge the gap between industry and startups by supporting the establishment of incubators and incubation programs led by the industry. This initiative seeks to empower manufacturing startups with innovative technologies and sustainable practices, enabling them to become global leaders through industry-supported incubation.

Michelin's broader innovation program in India focuses on fostering collaboration with local startups in areas such as digitalisation, commercialisation, mobility, advanced materials, and sustainability.
