MG Motor India has announced that during the past five years the company has saved over 30,000 kilograms of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) by using water-based paints in the repainting of 1.72 lakh vehicles across its service centers in India.
Water-based paints emit only 10 grams of VOCs per litre, compared to 400 grams from solvent-based paints, reducing harmful emissions by 390 grams per vehicle. MG India has used water-based paints since beginning operations in 2019, demonstrating its commitment to environmental responsibility.
Satinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Commercial Officer of MG India, said, 'Sustainability is integral to our business. Saving 30,000 kg of VOCs highlights our dedication to reducing our environmental impact and achieving our net-zero target. We hope the aftersales market adopts water-based paints to better protect our environment.'
MG Motor India's initiatives, including the MG Dry Wash (Enviro Wash), saves up to 14 lakh liters of water monthly.
