MG Motor & HPCL Partner To Expand EV Charging Network mobility outlook

MG Motor India and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) have joined forces aimed at enhancing India's electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. Through this collaboration the companies will install 50kW and 60kW DC fast chargers at key locations on highways and throughout cities to make EV charging more accessible for long-distance and intercity travellers.

The public charging network which supports the CCS 2 charging standard compatible with vehicles like the MG ZS EV will be available to all EV users. MG customers will be able to locate these chargers through the MyMG App, while the integrated HPCL network discovery tool will also provide access.

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer at MG Motor India, stated “Along with our partners, we are creating a vast network of EV charging stations and solutions for battery recycling and second-life applications. Our partnership with HPCL is another step towards expanding India's EV charging infrastructure, enhancing customer confidence in EVs. HPCL's extensive network ensures convenient access to our charging solutions for existing and prospective EV users across the country.”

Rajdip Ghosh, Chief General Manager of Highway Retailing at HPCL, added “HPCL has a nationwide network of over 22,000 fuel stations and aims to install 5,000 electric vehicle charging stations by December 2024. We will analyse charger usage to improve customer experience and strategically expand our EV charging infrastructure. This synergy will support the growth of EVs in the coming days.”
